In Chennai, Deepak Chahar, the bowler for India’s international team and the Chennai Super Kings, is getting ready for the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. He knows that doing well in the IPL could mean he gets picked for the T20 World Cup in June.
Deepak Chahar talked about this during an event where Etihad Airways was announced as an official sponsor for CSK. He said that this IPL season is super important because how well players perform here could decide who gets to play for India in the T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup will be in the United States of America and West Indies.
“This IPL is a big deal for all of us because it’s the first time they’ll pick players for the Indian team based on IPL performance. They have their eyes set on certain players. Those who play well in the IPL will get a chance,” said Deepak.
He’s focused on staying fit, giving his best, and aiming for the World Cup. He’s keeping an eye on the date, March 22nd, as an important milestone. “I’m preparing for that and let’s see what happens,” he added.
Deepak Chahar couldn’t play in the T20Is against South Africa and Afghanistan because his father was unwell. He believes that family is really important for a cricketer. “Family comes first. When there’s a family emergency, nothing else matters. When you’re in such a situation, you don’t worry about what comes next. After dealing with it, I thought about what I can do next. When people see me play next time, I want them to see an improved cricketer.”
