WPL 2024

WPL 2024: Giants name Tahuhu as Cheatle’s replacement.

Lea Tahuhu from New Zealand is joining Gujarat Giants to replace Lauren Cheatle, the Australian bowler, for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) starting on February 23. Tahuhu, who is 33 years old, was picked by Gujarat for Rs 30 lakhs.

According to the WPL statement, Gujarat Giants decided to bring in Lea Tahuhu instead of Lauren Cheatle for the upcoming TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, which begins on February 23, 2024.

Tahuhu has played 80 T20Is and 93 ODIs for New Zealand, taking 78 and 109 wickets in both formats, respectively.

Lauren Cheatle, who is 25 years old, had to withdraw from the WPL because she underwent surgery to remove skin cancer from her neck. She was bought for Rs 30 lakhs in the auction.

In the previous season, Gujarat Giants performed poorly, finishing at the bottom of the table with six losses in eight matches.

Gujarat Giants will kick off their WPL campaign against Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, on February 25 in Bengaluru.
