Will Ishan Kishan be allowed to play in IPL 2024?

Ishan Kishan didn’t play in the Ranji Trophy again. He usually plays cricket for Jharkhand in domestic matches. But this time, he didn’t play in the final matches that started on Friday. This made the BCCI unhappy.

Kishan likes playing in the IPL more than in the Ranji Trophy. So, the BCCI made a rule. It says players must play some Ranji Trophy games to join the IPL auction.

Deepak Chahar and Shreyas Iyer also didn’t play in the current matches. Iyer has problems with his lower back and groin.

Kishan, Chahar, and Iyer were told to play for their state teams in the Ranji Trophy.

Without Kishan, Kumar Kushagra kept wicket for Jharkhand. Jharkhand is not doing well in the Ranji Trophy. They have only won one match out of six.

Kishan didn’t play many matches after coming back from South Africa. He said he was too tired to travel. But he was seen practicing with Hardik Pandya in Baroda instead of playing for Jharkhand.

People in Indian cricket don’t like this. They think young players should focus on all types of cricket, not just the IPL.

The BCCI says contracted players must play Ranji Trophy matches. Jay Shah, the secretary, said this in Rajkot. He also said that selectors can decide what to do if a player doesn’t listen to the team’s advice.

In short, players need to listen to their team’s advice and play the matches they are asked to play.

Kane Williamson smashes 30th Test century to leave Ricky Ponting, and Sunil Gavaskar behind

Kane Williamson, the ex-captain of New Zealand’s cricket team, grabbed the chance to bat when South Africa decided to bowl first. Even though he was supposed to bat third, he ended up facing the ball in just the second over after Devon Conway got out. At that point, New Zealand had only scored 2 runs for the loss of 1 wicket.

Without wasting any time, Williamson got into his groove and hit a nice boundary through the covers off the 19th ball he faced. It took him 125 deliveries to reach fifty runs, but he did it in style by guiding a half-volley to the boundary through mid-on and mid-wicket. Despite facing a tough South African bowling attack, he kept his cool and continued to score runs.

When Williamson reached his century, his 17th in New Zealand, it made him the fourth-fastest player in Test cricket history to reach 30 centuries. He achieved this in his 169th innings, surpassing the records of Ricky Ponting and Sunil Gavaskar, who did it in their 170th and 174th innings respectively.

In the match, New Zealand’s team included Tom Latham, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell (who was also the wicketkeeper), Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Kyle Jamieson, Tim Southee (the captain), and Matt Henry.

South Africa’s team consisted of Neil Brand (the captain), Edward Moore, Raynard van Tonder, Zubayr Hamza, David Bedingham, Keegan Petersen, Ruan de Swardt, Clyde Fortuin (the wicketkeeper), Duanne Olivier, Tshepo Moreki, and Dane Paterson.

Pakistan Cricket Board terminates Haris Rauf’s central contract.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took action against fast bowler Haris Rauf for not joining the national team in Australia. They canceled his contract and banned him from playing in foreign leagues until June 30.

The PCB said they looked into why Rauf didn’t join the team for the Australia tour in 2023-24. After talking to everyone involved, they decided to end his contract from December 1, 2023. They won’t let him play in any foreign league until June 30, 2024.

The PCB gave Rauf a chance to explain himself but wasn’t satisfied with his response. They believe that playing for Pakistan is a big deal and refusing to join the Test squad without a good reason breaks the contract.

Last December, Pakistan played three Test matches in Australia and lost them all. While Pakistan was struggling in Australia, Rauf chose to play for the Melbourne Stars team instead of joining the national team.

WPL 2024: In Kashvee Gautam, Gujarat Giants have pace bowler they were looking for, says Mukund

Kashvee Gautam, a fast-bowling all-rounder, became the most expensive new player in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 auction. Gujarat Giants bought her for INR 2 crores. Abhinav Mukund, a former India player, thinks Kashvee is the fast bowler Gujarat needed.

He also likes the overseas players on the Gujarat team. “Last year, Kashvee might not have been very fast, but this year she’s doing great with the new ball. Gujarat really needed a bowler like her. Their overseas players, Beth Mooney, Ashleigh Gardner, Laura Wolvaardt, and Kathryn Bryce, are all excellent,” he told JioCinema.

Kashvee played for India A against England A in Mumbai last year. She was also part of the India ‘A’ squad that won the ACC Emerging tournament in Hong Kong in June 2023. Last month, she won the Jagmohan Dalmiya Trophy for being the best women cricketer in the junior domestic circuit for the 2019-20 season.

Mithali Raj, the former India captain and mentor of Gujarat Giants, said, “Kashvee Gautam is young, and we’re not just looking at this season. We’re thinking about the next two seasons. Even if she doesn’t perform very well now, it’s an investment for the future. She’s a potential player for the Indian team because she can bowl, bat, and field well.”

Saba Karim, a former India men’s wicketkeeper-batter, thinks people will also watch Phoebe Litchfield, an Australian opener who won the ICC Emerging Women’s Cricketer of the Year award for the 2023 season.

“Both Kashvee and Phoebe will focus on controlling the top-order. The team looks a bit top-order heavy, but they might find balance during the camps. They have Kathryn Bryce, a pace bowler, to strengthen their bowling attack,” he added.

Gujarat Giants came last in the first WPL season in 2023. They will start their WPL 2024 campaign against Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on February 25th.
