Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are blessed with a baby boy ‘Akaay’, sharing the news on social media

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma announced on Tuesday that they have become parents to a baby boy. The baby named Akaay was born on February 15, the couple announced on their Instagram account. “With great happiness and hearts full of love, we are happy to tell everyone that on February 15, we welcomed our son Akaay and little sister Vamika into this world,” wrote Kohli and Anushka.

Earlier this month, AB de Villiers, Kohli’s long-time teammate at Roya Challengers Bangalore, shared on his YouTube channel that the couple is expecting their second child. De Villers shared excerpts from the text he exchanged with Kohli.

“So I wrote to him and said: ‘I want to see you (sic) now, cookie. How did you do?’. He said: “I really need to be with my family now. I’m doing well.’ Yes, her second child is on the way.

But later, in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, de Villiers admitted: “At the same time, I also made a terrible mistake by spreading false information, which was not true at all. I think the best for Virat’s family comes first. No one knows what’s going on there, all I can do is wish him luck.

Last month, when India announced its squad for the first two of the five Tests against England, the BCCI said in a press release that Kohli would miss the Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam matches “due to personal reasons”. Expecting him to return later in the series, the Indian cricket board said before the Rajkot Test that the former Indian skipper has been ruled out of the rest of the series.

“Virat Kohli will not be available for selection for the rest of the series due to personal reasons. The Board respects and supports Mr Kohli’s decision,” the BCCI said.

With a big 434-run victory over England in the third Test in Rajkot, India is now leading 2-1 in the five-match series.

On the bowling side, Jasprit Bumrah did really well, taking the most wickets in all three Tests so far. Because he worked so hard, he might take a break in the next Test in Ranchi as part of a plan to manage players’ workload. In the second Test in Visakhapatnam, India had given a rest to bowler Mohammed Siraj.

In the Visakhapatnam Test, Bumrah, who is 30 years old, helped India win with nine wickets, including an amazing six for 45 in the first innings. In total, he bowled 80.5 overs in the series and got 17 wickets with an average of 13.65.

Now that Bumrah might rest, India is thinking about who can replace him in the Ranchi Test. Since Ranchi’s pitch is usually good for spinners, India might bring in a new spinner or a medium pacer instead of Bumrah. Siraj will probably lead the attack.

Here are some options for Bumrah’s replacement in the Ranchi Test:

  1. Mukesh Kumar

   – A 30-year-old Bengal pacer.

   – Did okay in the last three Tests.

   – Had a great game at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, taking 10 wickets in a match.

   – Good on tricky pitches, might replace Bumrah.

 

  1. Akash Deep

   – A 27-year-old Bengal quick.

   – Got his first chance to play for India after the second Test.

   – Took 10 wickets in two games against England Lions in Ahmedabad.

   – Important player for Bengal in red-ball cricket.

 

  1. Axar Patel or Washington Sundar

   – If the Ranchi pitch helps spinners, India might choose an extra spinner.

   – Axar Patel was dropped for the third Test but can be considered again.

   – Washington Sundar hasn’t played a Test in almost three years.

 

In the last England game, India struggled against spin, so they might pick a spinner if the pitch is good for it. Axar Patel or Washington Sundar could replace Bumrah in that case.

R Ashwin’s wife, Prithi Narayanan, wrote a touching message after the Indian spinner returned to play on Day 4 following a tough time at home. Ashwin had hit his 500th wicket in Test cricket during the Rajkot Test and attended a press conference afterward. Later that night, it became public that Ashwin had left the team due to a family emergency.

Prithi shared on Instagram, “We hoped for 500 in Hyderabad, but it didn’t happen. Nor in Vizag. So, I celebrated with sweets at 499. 500 came quietly.” She continued, “A lot happened between 500 and 501. It was the longest 48 hours of our lives. But this is about the 500. And the 499 before that.

She expressed pride in Ashwin’s achievement and called him an outstanding person, saying, “I am very proud of you, R Ashwin. We love you.”

Addressing Ashwin’s departure, she said, “Family comes first. When we heard about his family issue, there was no doubt. He wanted to be with them, and it was the right thing to do. We missed him, but we were happy he came back. It shows his character.”

Former India coach Ravi Shastri mentioned that Ashwin flew home on a special flight arranged by BCCI secretary Jay Shah. “Jay Shah organized a charter plane for Ashwin’s trip home and back,” Shastri revealed during commentary.

Reportedly, Jasprit Bumrah is set to take a break during the fourth Test against England.

The main fast bowler for India, Jasprit Bumrah, is going to take a break during the next Test match in Ranchi. This match starts on February 23. The decision to give Bumrah a break is because the Indian team wants to manage his workload better.

The Indian team plans to leave Rajkot and go to Ranchi on Tuesday, but Bumrah might not go with them for the fourth Test. Whether Bumrah plays in the last Test in Dharamsala depends on how he feels after the Ranchi Test, the report added.

Bumrah will probably travel from Rajkot to Ahmedabad by road on Monday. It’s about a four-hour drive. Bumrah has taken the most wickets in the series so far, with 17. He has bowled nearly 81 overs in the first three Tests in Hyderabad, Vizag, and Rajkot.

Like Bumrah, another fast bowler, Mohammed Siraj, was rested earlier during the second Test in Vizag. Right now, there’s no news about whether another bowler will replace Bumrah for the Ranchi match.

Virat Kohli withdraws from India-England series, change in pace department

The former captain of the Indian Cricket team, Virat Kohli has reported to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the senior national selection committee that he won’t be playing in the last three Tests of the series against England. This decision came during a meeting where the selectors were deciding on the squad for the matches in Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamshala.

At the start of the series, Kohli talked with Indian captain Rohit Sharma, the team leaders, and the selectors. He said that while protecting his country is his main focus, he has some personal issues that need his full attention.
