IND vs ENG: Yashasvi Jaiswal levels Virat Kohli’s record in England Test series

Yashasvi Jaiswal has matched Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs by an Indian batter in a Test series against England. He’s been doing well with the bat.Β

Before his turn to bat in the Ranchi Test, Jaiswal had scored 618 runs. He needed 37 more to equal Kohli’s record. Kohli set this record during the 2016-17 series when England played in India.

During the Ranchi Test, Jaiswal had a nervous moment when a review was taken against him by Tom Hartley. But he stayed calm and hit a couple of boundaries off Shoaib Bashir to match Kohli’s record. Unfortunately, his innings were cut short by Joe Root’s team, with a stunning catch by James Anderson.

Next, Jaiswal aims to join Sunil Gavaskar as the only Indian player to reach 700 runs in a bilateral series. He also wants to surpass Graham Gooch and Joe Root, who hold the top spots for most runs scored in a single series between India and England. Gooch scored 752 runs in 1990, and Root got 737 in the 2021–22 series in England.

How’s Jaiswal been performing in this series? He’s been fantastic! He started with a bang, scoring 80 runs aggressively in Hyderabad. Then, he smashed 209 runs in Vizag, setting the stage for India’s victory. In Rajkot, he scored another double-hundred, helping India take the lead in the series. Jaiswal became only the third Indian to score back-to-back double hundreds in Test cricket, joining Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli.

Jaiswal has also set a new record for Indian batters after 8 Tests, with 971 runs to his credit. That’s second only to the legendary Don Bradman, who scored 1210 runs in the same period. Jaiswal’s current average in this ongoing series is an impressive 93.57.

Rohit Sharma hits 17th Test fifty in Ranchi, goes past 9000 first-class runs

In the recent cricket match, India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, did well. He scored his 17th Test half-century and crossed the 9000-run mark in his career. This happened during the fourth Test against England in Ranchi.Β

Rohit hit 55 runs off 81 balls, with five boundaries and one six. He reached the fifty-run mark in the morning session of Day 4, putting pressure on England. Rohit Sharma also passed 4000 runs in Tests, becoming the 17th Indian to do so. He even scored 1000 runs against England.

On Day 3, Rohit played impressively, scoring 24 runs and helping India start their chase positively. Earlier in the game, England scored 353 runs in the first innings, thanks to Joe Root’s unbeaten century of 122 runs and Ben Foakes’ 47 runs.

England’s Shoaib Bashir took four wickets in India’s second innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal played well too, scoring 73 runs off 117 balls. India ended their first innings with 307 runs, with Dhruv Jurel hitting his first Test half-century.

India bowled England out for 145 runs in reply. Ravichandran Ashwin took five wickets, becoming the highest Test wicket-taker on Indian soil.

In the final innings, Rohit and Jaiswal started well, ending Day 3 at 40 runs without losing any wickets, still 152 runs behind the target.

On IPL 2024 Being MS Dhoni’s Last, Ex-CSK Star’s Honest Verdict

Parthiv Patel, the ex-India wicketkeeper, recently shared his thoughts on what’s next for Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni, who has won the IPL five times as captain, is making a comeback after almost a year. The new IPL 2024 season begins on March 22, with Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) facing off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Dhoni hasn’t played since CSK won the 2023 IPL in Ahmedabad.

Every year before the IPL starts, people wonder if Dhoni will continue with CSK. This year is no different. Dhoni had knee surgery after last year’s IPL final. But the CEO of CSK, Kasi Viswanath, said Dhoni will lead the team this season.

Parthiv believes only Dhoni can say if he’s done with the IPL or not. Parthiv said on Jio Cinema, “Dhoni plays once every 10 months. Every time, people talk about whether this will be his last time playing cricket. Only Dhoni knows.”

Dhoni hasn’t played any games since the last IPL. Parthiv thinks this IPL will be tough for Dhoni because he hasn’t played regularly. He said, “In the past, we’ve seen big players struggle in the IPL if they haven’t played much cricket before. It happened with players like Mathew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist.”

The first two weeks’ schedule of the IPL was announced recently. CSK, led by MS Dhoni, will play two matches at their home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium. On March 26, they’ll face Gujarat Titans, a repeat of last year’s final.

IPL 2024: The Uncertain Participation of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) got good news about their New Zealand players, Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, and Daryl Mitchell. These players were hurt but are now expected to play in the upcoming Test series against Australia, which makes CSK happy.

Kiwi Players’ Injuries

Daryl Mitchell hurt his foot and couldn’t play in the T20I series. Rachin Ravindra had a problem with his knee and missed the second T20I. Devon Conway hurt his thumb during the same match and couldn’t play the final game.

Conway’s Thumb Injury

Devon Conway hurt his left thumb while keeping wickets in the second T20I. Luckily, the X-rays showed no breaks, which was a relief for New Zealand. However, Conway couldn’t bat in the chase, and New Zealand lost.

Conway’s Return Uncertain

While Mitchell and Ravindra might be fit for the first Test against Australia, we’re not sure about Conway. Coach Gary Stead is worried about Conway’s recovery and wants him to feel comfortable playing. Even though his thumb isn’t broken, doctors will watch him closely.

Good News for CSK

If Conway and Ravindra come back, it’s good for CSK, who picked them during the IPL 2024 auction. Adding them with Mitchell Santner makes CSK stronger for the next season.

IPL 2024 First Game

CSK will start their IPL 2024 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 22 at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. This match will be exciting as both teams are strong.

CSK Team

CSK has experienced players like MS Dhoni and new talents like Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Adding Conway and Ravindra makes the team even better.

In Conclusion

With Conway and Ravindra possibly returning, CSK fans are excited for the IPL 2024 season. They hope these players will be part of the team for an exciting season ahead.

WPL 2024: MI’s Bowling Might Proves Too Hot to Handle for Gujarat Giants

In T20 cricket, coaches and analysts often say, “Batters win matches, bowlers win championships.” This means that while batters (the ones who hit the ball) may win individual games, it’s the bowlers (the ones who throw the ball) who help teams win big tournaments.

At Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Mumbai Indians (MI), who are the reigning champions of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), showed that they have a strong bowling team. They still have a lot of games to play before they can try to win the title again, but their bowling attack looks very good.

Before this season started, MI already had a good mix of young and experienced bowlers who worked well together to help their team win most of their matches. During the player auction, they decided to add more experience to their bowling squad by bringing in Shabnim Ismail from South Africa.

Before the first game of the season, MI’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, talked about how important it was to have Ismail on the team. She said that Ismail is a great player who has done well for her country and in other leagues. Ismail can bowl fast, which is something MI was looking for. Last year, another bowler named Issy Wong helped them a lot, and now they have Ismail as another good option. Having Ismail on the team gives them more strength in bowling.

In the game on Sunday, Ismail showed why she was a valuable addition to the team. She bowled well in the early part of the game, getting two important players from the Gujarat Giants team out early with her deliveries. They hit the batswomen’s pads and were close enough to the wickets for them to be sent off the field.

This shows that having a strong bowling team is important in cricket, especially in T20 matches where every run matters. MI’s decision to strengthen their bowling squad seems to be paying off already.

PSL 2024: Top Captain Picks for PES vs ISL on Dream11

The 13th match of the Pakistan Super League 2024 is set to take place between PES vs ISL on Monday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Peshawar Zalmi (PES) won their last game, making it their second win in a row. They scored 211-4 when they batted first and then limited Lahore Qalandars to 203-6. Islamabad United, on the other hand, won their first game but lost the next two. In their recent defeat against the Quetta Gladiators, they could only score 138 runs in 20 overs, which the Gladiators chased down in the 19th over.

Before the PES (Peshawar Zalmi) vs ISL (Islamabad United) match, here are three players you might want to consider as captain or vice-captain for your Dream11 team.

Islamabad United’s captain Shadab Khan didn’t perform well with the bat in the last game against the Quetta Gladiators. He only scored two runs off four balls before getting out to Mohammad Hasnain. However, he did well with the ball, taking the wickets of Sarfaraz Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim Jr. He only gave away 24 runs in four overs. Shadab is a reliable all-rounder who can contribute with both bat and ball.

Agha Salman is having a great season with the bat for Islamabad United. He is the highest run-scorer in PSL 2024 for his team, scoring 149 runs in three games with an average of 74.50. He played a good innings against the Quetta Gladiators in the last match, scoring 33 runs off 23 balls before getting out in the 12th over. Given his current form, he’s a good choice for your Dream11 team.

Babar Azam from Peshawar Zalmi is also in good form in PSL 2024. He is among the top three run-scorers in the tournament, having scored 219 runs in four games with an average of 54.75. Babar performed well against the Lahore Qalandars in the last game, scoring 48 runs off 36 balls before getting out in the 15th over. He hit five boundaries during his innings and is a solid pick for your Dream11 team.
